Kids (and adults!) came out to Inniswood Metro Gardens on Saturday, April 14, 2026, to decorate a Valentine’s Day card and a winter sowing jug for someone special.
After the jugs were decorated, Wild Ones Columbus volunteers assisted in cutting the jugs around the middle (leaving a hinge), then filled the jugs with potting mix, sprinkled Orange coneflower seeds, watered, labeled, and closed up the jug. Instructions were provided on where to place the jug outside in the winter cold where it would get some snow and rain (which is necessary for many native plant seeds to overcome dormancy), and when to watch for sprouts.
It was a fun morning, and the jugs were pretty cool looking!
