We’ll be demonstrating how to clean native seeds gathered from member’s gardens, trees and prairies for our Wild Ones seed swap on January 10, 2026 10am – 12noon at Inniswood. If you’re new to seed cleaning, you’ll learn seed cleaning techniques from more experienced members. If you have any experience cleaning seeds, we’d love to have you come and share your tips. If you’d like to bring your own seed to learn how to clean it and take it home, that works too!
If you have on hand, please bring:
- A large paper grocery bag (to collect chaff)
- A strainer/sieve (or two) with large and/or small openings, for sifting seeds
- Any seeds you’ve collected that you wish to clean and share (optional!)
- Garden gloves if you’re bringing purple coneflower seed heads.
We will provide:
- Small glassine envelopes to take home seeds.
- Sieves of various opening sizes for seed cleaning.
- Large leaf bags to collect chaff.
- Bowls/receptacles for cleaning seeds
